Unemployed and Finding Your Next Big Break

Over the past year as I have had to put a home based business on hold, my own personal decision, as I decided it is better for me to work on doing something by paying cash.  I also believe that after creating this blog, it would help my readers create better understanding of how to build the business and avoid massive amount of debt.

#1 - If you have a job - keep it and commit to the job and the company, find a way to love it - you are being paid for it and it really will help you find strength in yourself - you might have forgotten that you had.  However, if you are so unhappy that it is creating health issues and stress, then still keep it until you find something else and write down and focus on the type of company you want, research their values and their mission statement, whether the duties of the position are what you want. 

I had already left my place of employment and then used all of the savings I had, cashed in my retirement, accumulated debt for marketing and travel for the business.  I essentially got to a point I had to move out of my apartment and move in with my mom, not exactly my plan of action.

If I had to do it over again, I most likely still would have left that job, however, made a choice to find another one until such time as the business became a long standing success and I was paying cash and paying the credit cards off each month.

I took a risk and for the most part, I am grateful for the lesson.

As of today, I am unemployed, no unemployment due to the fact, I made the choice of my own free will to leave on my terms.

What this has helped me with is the time to really think and become clear on my vision of what I know I am capable of achieving, regardless of how long it takes.

I am offering these facts and opinions to help you, if you choose to take the information.

# 2 - Learn as much as you can about the business you want to invest in, about marketing techniques, the compensation plan, attend online webinars, teleseminars about marketing, prospecting, the appropriate way to do a 3-way telephone conference.  Talk to the people who have had success with the company and network marketing.  You might even find people who will help you that are not with the same company.  DO NOT PAY SOMEONE WHO CALLS YOU INITIALLY AND SAYS THEY WILL GET YOU THE # 1 SPOT ON ANY SEARCH ENGINE, SAYS THEY WILL BUILD YOU THE BEST WEB SITE IN THE WORLD, ETC. 

Do your homework on how to build websites, marketing and if someone does cold call you - do your homework on them too, call someone in your organization.  If the person calls you and in any way shape for form, bad mouths the organization or people in the company, just make it abundandtly clear you are not interested. 

The beauty of these two (2) of many parts and information to come - is this when you learn to do these things yourself, you become your own guru.

I am still working on it myself by reading books from the library or on loan from my friends and family on success, marketing, job search information, writing cover letters, effective resumes, loving your job, and attending webinars. 

Finally, no matter what you do, please have integrity and be conscious about creating the multiple streams of income.

Any type of positive information you seek is an investment in your mind and thus creating your own map to the bank.

The Corporate World and Leadership

A few months ago I posted an blog about Corporate Social Responsibility and in short I would like to add to that blog post.

I believe as with anything in this World, there is more good than bad.  The World has the ability to be on our side when we look at it with a positive mental attitude.

There are many great companies to work with and be a part of.  A couple that I am focused on now that I have not been a part of , however, a couple of them that I am putting my focus on due to their values, leadership principles and integrity are:  Lockheed Martin and Starbucks.

You see what I found during my time as a home business owner is there are positives in that area and the company you are marketing the products for, however, you will still at time run across the same issues in a home based business, a franchise business, a direct sales business, network marketing business, and there will also be areas in those companies you might not agree upon. 

The ultimate key to success in my opinion, is find a company that has the same values, allows you to grow, has continued education, focused on leadership and coaching, knows that people are the # 1 key to long lasting success and creating a positive, enthusiastic team ("Together Everyone Achieves More") environment for the customers, employees, and CEO's to work together for a great purpose.

I am now choosing to focus on what I love to do, as opposed to the the title of the opportunity. 

Wear the hat of vision, purpose, positive mental attitude, enthusiasm, people oriented, leadership, coaching, team environment, happiness, success long lasting and creating a win/win situation.
